Winter Weather’s No-Christmas Treasure

Your roof is a major investment.  Major investments need protection.  Annual maintenance can provide that protection and insure proper functioning.  On the other hand, a lack of inspection and maintenance will eventually result in premature failure and unexpected and unavoidable expenses.  For your roof to retain its long term value, a roof inspection and regular maintenance program is imperative!

Most roof damage occurs during the winter holidays.  With a lack of maintenance, harsh weather conditions, such as heavy rain or snow, strong winds and extreme temperatures can cause substantial damage to a roof.

A roof inspection conducted before harsh winter weather arrives is important because an inspection will:

  • Help identify potential problems before winter conditions make them actual problems
  • Allow you to address existing problems before conditions such as snow and ice make them worse and more difficult
    to repair.
  • Save you money in the short-term as it is always cheaper to repair and maintain your roof than to replace it – it’s even more expensive to have roof work done in the winter.
  • Save you money in the long-term by extending the life of your roof.bs-darkroom-lights-1117

Items to be looked at during a Roof Inspection:

  • Any missing, broken or damaged shingles
  • Pipe jack or vent pipe flashings are in good condition
  • All fasteners on the roof are sealed
  • There are no nail pops or exposed nails
  • The roof is clear of all debris
  • The chimney is sealed appropriately
  • Gutter are clean and securely hung
